Paul Dauphinais Bio:

Paul Dauphinais, Ph.D. is a practicing school psychologist employed in the Turtle Mountain Special Education Unit in Belcourt, ND. Paul has been employed in this unit as a school psychologist since 1981. His professional interests include the active use of Curriculum Based Measurements (CBM) for decision-making and progress monitoring. He believes that school psychologists can play a vital role in creating systems where barriers to learning can be addressed and mental health services in the schools are provided. Paul Dauphinais was part of the state SLD Taskforce that developed the current guide for assessment and identification of SLD students in North Dakota. The committee was able to provide guidelines that assist educators and school psychologists in identification of SLD students. The guide also provides direction with assessment of students when there are ethnic diversity issues, especially with Native American children in the state. Paul supports the NASP position statement on the recent No Child Left Behind legislation in the elimination of the use of the ability-achievement discrepancy requirement.
